2026 Apprenticeship Programme - UK

BlackRock’s Apprenticeship Programme is an 18-month training contract which provides the opportunity for recent school leavers to earn as they learn. Starting in September 2026, you will be fully immersed in our business, working alongside experts in the industry and receiving on-the-job training and professional development. You will study towards an industry-recognised qualification and receive ongoing support from your manager, buddy and coach.

On successful completion of the programme, apprentices will have the opportunity to receive an offer to join BlackRock as a full-time employee.

We think it’s important to have an open mind about where you begin your career and you’ll be able to apply to up to two teams. Opportunities are available in the below teams and locations:

  • Client Experience - Edinburgh
  • Data Operations - Edinburgh
  • Investment Operations - Edinburgh & London
  • Portfolio Management - London

Qualifications:

On successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will be awarded:

  • London - Level 4 Investment Operations Specialist
  • Edinburgh - SCQF Level 6 Providing Financial Services

Entry requirements

Skills

We’re looking for proactive, driven school leavers who are eager to obtain practical experience and advance their careers. The skills required to be a successful apprentice at BlackRock include:

  • Enthusiasm and willingness to learn
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships
  • A strong ability to work collaboratively and embrace a team-oriented approach
  • Adaptability to high-paced and dynamic environments
  • An analytical mindset and technical curiosity
  • A desire to solve problems and create solutions by challenging the status quo and pushing boundaries

Education

Applications are encouraged from school leavers of all academic backgrounds.

  • London: Candidates will need a minimum of grade 4 GCSE (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths, and to have achieved a minimum of grade C in three A-levels (or equivalent e.g. BTEC Nationals) by September 2026.
  • Edinburgh: Candidates will need a pass in National 5 (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths, and have completed three Highers (or equivalent) by September 2026

To be eligible, you must not have previously completed an Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in any subject.

Right to work

To be enrolled in the apprenticeship you must:

  • Be a UK citizen or have proof of your right to work in the UK.
  • Have lived in the UK or European Economic Area (EEA) for the last 3 years or more.
  • If you are not a UK or EEA citizen, you must have resided in the UK for the last 3 years.

Unfortunately, we’re unable to provide visa sponsorship for our Apprenticeship Programme.

Application process

  1. To apply, you will need to complete an online application form and submit your CV.
  2. After submitting your application, you will be invited to complete a pre-interview assessment consisting of 3 questions that you have to record a video response to. You have up to five days to submit your pre-interview assessment; if you fail to do so, your application will be automatically withdrawn.
  3. If successful at the pre-interview assessment, you will be invited to attend a virtual interview with the hiring team.
  4. The final stage will be an assessment centre at our office where you’ll be able to meet our current apprentices, attend further interviews and take part in a group exercise.
