<p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p><span><span>The College of Arts & Sciences Office of Undergraduate Education is seeking talented educators from all liberal arts disciplines to join their corps of Advising Fellows, pre-major advisors who teach in the<span> </span></span></span><i><span>Engagements<span> </span></span></i><span><span>program, the required curriculum for all First-Year Students</span><span>. Led by</span><span><span> </span>the Director of Undergraduate Advising, the Advising Fellows provide group and individual advising for first- and second-year students in the College. </span></span></p><p></p><p><span><span>Fellows<span> </span></span><span>assist</span><span><span> </span>students in their transition to college, help them develop and practice strategies for academic success, and familiarize them with the array of resources across grounds (career center, study abroad, etc.). Student Advising Fellows<span> </span></span><span>are responsible for</span><span><span> </span>actively managing a caseload of students from matriculation through admission into a major/program. Their workload includes teaching multiple courses per year in the<span> </span></span></span><i><span>Engagements<span> </span></span></i><span><span>Program, running programming for Faculty and Students, and contributing to the College’s historical commitment to Liberal Arts education.  </span></span><span> </span></p><p></p><div><p><b><span>Responsibilities: </span></b><span> </span></p></div><div><ul><li><p><span><span>Maintain a<span> </span></span><span>work load</span><span><span> </span>of active<span> </span></span><span>first and second year</span><span><span> </span>advisees</span></span><span> </span></p></li><li><p><span><span>Design Faculty advisor training and student-facing workshops</span></span><span> </span></p></li><li><p><span><span>Teach multiple courses in the<span> </span></span></span><i><span>Engagements<span> </span></span></i><span><span>program</span></span><span> </span></p></li><li><p><span><span>Communicate with students using different modalities and in ways that provide maximum connection, including scheduled meeting hours, walk-in hours, and via electronic means</span></span><span> </span></p></li><li><p><span><span>Assist</span><span><span> </span>students in course registration and degree declaration</span></span><span> </span></p></li><li><p><span><span>Actively manage progress towards graduation for advisees in portfolio; monitor and refer students to advising specialists when needed</span></span><span> </span></p></li><li><p><span><span>Participate in an Advising Community of Practice in the College</span></span></p></li><li><p><span><span>Maintain and<span> </span></span><span>possess</span><span><span> </span>knowledge about<span> </span></span><span>College</span><span><span> </span>curriculum and College and University academic policies</span> </span></p></li><li><p><span><span>Demonstrate commitment to the value and purpose of a liberal arts education</span></span><span> </span></p></li></ul></div><div><p></p><p><b>Minimum Qualifications</b></p><ul><li>Education: PhD or terminal degree required</li></ul><p></p><p><b>Preferred Qualifications</b></p><ul><li>Experience with the liberal arts</li></ul><p></p><p><b>Physical Demands</b></p><p>This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.</p><p></p><p><b>Salary </b></p><ul><li>The anticipated salary is $71,000 annually.</li></ul><p></p><p><b>Position Type & Work Location</b></p><ul><li>This is an exempt-level, benefited position.
