AMT Evening Certificate Program Coordinator

<strong>Purpose of the Role and Scope of Responsibility: </strong>Under supervision of the department chair, leads and manages the Automotive Professional Technician program, overseeing curriculum and resources to deliver highly skilled, entry-level technicians to the industry. including the curriculum, resources, and faculty, to provide industry with high-quality entry-level technicians. Prepares for and teaches automotive maintenance courses, including conducting hands-on labs.<br><br><strong>Roles And Responsibilities<br><br></strong><ul><li>Instructs and evaluates students in a live work setting who are performing general services and repairs on automobiles, to include instruction in shop safety.</li><li>Oversees the development of curriculum and syllabi for courses covering fundamentals of automotive, brakes, electrical systems, steering and suspension, engine performance, engine repair, hybrid/electric vehicles, drive trains, automatic transmission, heating/air conditioning service, and work ethic.</li><li>Supervises and assists in the maintenance of automotive lab and classroom equipment.</li><li>Assist Department Chair with budgeting, scheduling, onboarding new faculty, and other management duties.</li><li>Participates in available training to keep current in automotive technology.</li><li>Coordinates and conducts advisory committee meetings to maintain and enhance the AMT curriculum.</li><li>Collects and uses outcomes assessment data at the course and program level to continuously improve the quality of education being delivered.</li><li>Assist Department Chair with the semi-annual Academic Program Review.</li><li>Supports all student recruitment and marketing activities.</li><li>Participate in college governance, committee work, student advising, etc.</li><li>Performs other duties as required.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Requirements<br><br></strong>Knowledge/Education/Experience <br><br><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in automotive maintenance technology from a regionally accredited institution and three years of experience in automotive maintenance.</li><ul><li>Technical faculty not possessing a bachelor’s degree in the field shall meet the following criteria:</li><li>A bachelor’s degree with the industry certifications to teach the identified technical courses. OR</li><li>An associate degree in the related field from a regionally accredited institution;</li><li>Five years of work experience in the industry OR combination of additional work experience in the industry with industry certifications. OR</li><li>A certificate in the related field from a regionally accredited institution;</li><li>Seven years of work experience in the industry OR combination of additional work experience in the industry with industry certifications. OR</li><li>Ten years of work experience in the industry OR combination of additional work experience in the industry with industry certifications.</li></ul><li>Master ASE Certification.</li><li>Community college or technical school teaching experience preferred.</li><li>Ability to motivate faculty.</li><li>Ability to teach and motivate students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles.</li><li>Ability to maintain professionalism and use good judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.</li><li>Excellent planning and organizational skills; ability to meet deadlines.</li><li>Excellent presentation skills including strong written and verbal communication skills.</li><li>Ability to work flexible and adaptable schedule.</li><li>Computer literate in MS Office.</li></ul>
