Aviation Security Cargo Clearance Agent

Job Description Summary:

  • Intercepts, analyzes, researches and investigates domestic and international packages of interest to ensure regulatory compliance and cargo security. Analyzes shipments using cargo screening equipment to ensure safe and compliant shipment movement.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for ensuring the safe and secure movement of cargo shipments through warehouse, airports, and other aviation facilities.
  • Plays a crucial role in maintaining and enforcing aviation security regulations to prevent unauthorized access and mitigate potential risks to cargo shipment and aircraft movement.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education:

  • Associate's degree/equivalent. 

 Minimum Experience:

  • Two (2) years’ experience in law enforcement/military/security, or as a Ramp Agent, Sr. International Doc Agent or similar job, or a combination of both. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Transportation Security Administration (TSA) procedures relating to regulatory, aviation security, threat mitigation, etc., preferred. 
  • Ability to successfully complete required training programs.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license to operate company vehicle.
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. 
  • Ability to operate screening equipment, such as X-ray machines and explosive trace detection systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and observational skills to identify potential security threats.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with various stakeholders effectively.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle stressful situations calmly and professionally.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
  • Proficiency in computer systems and software used for cargo clearance and documentation. 
  • Must successfully complete initial Global Screening certification and all annual and re-current regulatory training.
  • May require comprehensive facility and equipment assessments. 

Job Conditions:

  • Annual completion of cargo screening training and certification required.
  • Must be able to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage sensitive and confidential information.
  • Ability to individually lift 50 pounds repetitively and maneuver packages of any weight above 50 pounds with appropriate equipment and/or assistance from another person in a warehouse environment.
  • Maintain successful completion of all basic and recurrency training requirements.
  • Fingerprinting required.

Pay: $21.14/hr - $29.59/hr
