Main Purpose of the Role

·         Deliver high-quality teaching across difference subject of the curriculum but we are keen to talk to candidates with a Science, Maths or ICT background

·         Support the individual needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) through differentiated planning, resource adaptation, and positive behaviour management

Key Responsibilities

·         Plan, resource and deliver engaging lessons tailored to the diverse needs of SEN learners

·         Teach a mainstream subject as allocated, ensuring lessons are inclusive and accessible

·         Differentiate learning activities and adapt resources to meet individual pupil needs

·         Establish a safe, supportive and stimulating classroom environment that encourages pupil engagement and achievement

·         Effectively manage classroom behaviour using positive behaviour strategies

·         Monitor, assess, record and report on pupil progress, maintaining accurate records in line with school policy

·         Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies to support pupil progress and wellbeing

·         Contribute to the wider life of the school, including enrichment activities, whole school events and staff development opportunities

·         Maintain a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children in accordance with school policies and Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE

 

Qualifications and training

·         Qualified teacher status (QTS)

·         Evidence of continuous professional development relevant to teaching and SEN 

·         Experience teaching in Special Educational Needs (SEN) settings

·         Experience delivering lessons to a range of learners

·         Experience teaching a mainstream curriculum subject

·         Experience differentiating lesson content and resources 

Skills and knowledge

·         Good knowledge of the national curriculum

·         Knowledge of effective SEN teaching and learning strategies

·         Ability to differentiate learning for a variety of needs and abilities

·         Effective classroom and behaviour management skills

·         Strong planning, organisational, and record keeping skills

·         Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

·         Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and commitment to promoting the welfare of children
