We are focused on making it easier and more fun for people to talk and hang out before, during, and after playing games.The Design Foundations team is looking for a Content Technologist to establish Discord's product voice and build the tools, guidance, and processes that help everyone write great copy. You'll define our copy standards, create an AI-powered writing assistant, build tools to catch issues before they ship, and partner with teams on high-stakes product moments. This role will report to the Design Foundations Product Design Director. Your work will strengthen user trust, reduce product risk, and ensure the words our millions of users see every day are as intentional and polished as the product itself. What You'll Be Doing Define and document copy and tone guidance within Mana, our Design System, creating the foundation for consistent, inclusive, and accessible language across Discord Collaborate with Brand, Legal, and Policy teams to align product language with company standards and values Build an AI-powered tool that enables teams to write their own copy following established guidelines, scaling your impact across the organization Build tools to catch non-compliant copy in code and suggests improvements, preventing issues before they reach users Partner with design and product teams to write and review critical in-product copy for major initiatives Establish a review process that catches copy-related risks before launch What you should have 7+ years of experience in UX writing, content design, or product copywriting Portfolio demonstrating clear, user-centered product copy and systems thinking Technical skills to build tools and implement linters—you're comfortable working with code and AI Strong documentation skills with experience creating guidelines that multiple teams use Understanding of accessibility and inclusive language practices Understanding of localization and translation best practices Track record of influencing and collaborating across design, product, engineering, and cross-functional partners Experience working within or contributing to design systems or a guidelines team This position is temporary, US-based, and can be remote, but if you live in the Bay Area, you’re welcome to work from our beautiful SF office. The US base salary range for this temporary full-time position is$180,000 to $202,500 + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role and level. Within the range, individual pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
