Overview
The Digital Workplace Sr. System Engineer is part of a global team that delivers innovative technology (hardware, software, and services) with a strong focus on user experience. The team is a key component of AES's Digital Workplace Experience (DWX) organization.

This role plays a primary role in supporting, managing, and advancing AES's VMware Horizon View virtual desktop environment, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and scalability across our global enterprise. Hands-on experience in VMware Horizon View, FSLogix, and App Volumes in an enterprise environment is required for this position.

Beyond virtualization, the role supports end-user computing technologies that span device management systems, end-user hardware, and printers, providing a consistent and secure user experience that meets AES's global standards for performance, supportability, and data protection.

This position is responsible for endpoint configuration management including PCs, tablets, and phones, as well as application deployment, client virtualization, process development, and printer management.

You play a critical role in ensuring that AES employees have an optimized, secure, and high-performing virtual desktop experience-from anywhere, on any device.

What You'll Do

As our Digital Workplace Sr. System Engineer, you will:
  • Serve as the primary technical owner of AES's VMware Horizon View virtual desktop environment, ensuring stability, performance, and scalability.
  • Manage and optimize FSLogix profiles and App Volumes for efficient application delivery and user experience.
  • Support and enhance AES's virtual infrastructure, collaborating closely with global teams to improve performance and maintain best practices.
  • Create and maintain software deployment packages, manage automation initiatives, and develop process improvements for scalability and self-service capabilities.
  • Evaluate software requests and make recommendations aligned with AES business needs and industry standards.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting of complex virtual environment and endpoint issues.
  • Analyze and mitigate vulnerabilities, ensuring compliance with AES's security and operational policies.
  • Develop and maintain detailed technical documentation, standards, and procedures.
  • Provide technical guidance to team members, engage with vendors, and support budget and lifecycle planning for digital workplace technologies.
What You'll Need
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and/or equivalent technical training or experience.
  • 5+ years' experience in enterprise systems administration with a strong focus on VMware Horizon View and virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI).
  • Hands-on expertise with FSLogix and App Volumes in a large-scale production environment (required).
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, and Group Policy
    • TCP/IP networking protocols, LAN/WAN
    • Azure and Remote Desktop Services (RDS)
    • Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (SCCM) and Intune
    • Windows 11, SQL Reporting, and PowerShell scripting
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications including Outlook, Teams, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong teamwork, adaptability, communication, and problem-solving skills.
