About You and This Role

In Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Dow is seeking a financial accountant. Assuring the accuracy and thoroughness of accounting operations recorded in the business's books depends heavily on this role. Among your responsibilities will be budgeting, product costing, documentation, reporting, analysis, and presentation of the results of functional and business activities.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the accuracy of financial statements reflecting the Companys operational results and financial position.
  • Support function and business management teams with essential financial analysis for informed decision-making.
  • Record, monitor, report, and communicate function/business results, ensuring adherence to accounting standards.
  • Conduct product costing for materials, review variances, and communicate findings to business/plant management.
  • Conduct reviews of product inventory and fixed assets.
  • Provide financial analysis to function/business management teams for project evaluations, options analysis, and productivity/benchmarking metrics.
  • Assist with the budgeting and monthly/quarterly estimation processes.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration OR relevant military experience at a U.S. E6 or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class, Sergeant ranking or higher.
  • Minimum of 1 year of work experience.
  • Legal authorization to work in Canada without visa sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA certification would be beneficial, but not essential.
    Work experience in accounting is desirable.
