## Grounds Supervisor I - Black Mountain Neuro - Medical Treatment Center The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services is looking for a Grounds Supervisor I to join Black Mountain Neuro - Medical Treatment Center. This is a supervisory and hands-on technical role that combines leadership with direct grounds maintenance work. You'll be responsible for the maintenance, safety, and aesthetic appearance of more than 20 acres of facility grounds. In this position, you'll lead a team of grounds personnel while also getting your hands dirty with the technical work. You'll collaborate with other skilled trades across the facility to ensure that all exterior spaces are maintained to a high standard. ## What You'll Do As a supervisor, you'll manage work assignments and handle hiring and performance management for your grounds team. You'll oversee the cleaning and repair of on-campus streets and parking lots, manage inventory control of equipment and supplies, and ensure that all grounds upkeep activities meet facility standards. Your team will handle fertilization methods, trimming trees and shrubs, and maintaining the overall appearance and safety of the grounds. You'll also train others on the safe and proper use and maintenance of grounds equipment. This position is designated as mandatory, meaning you must be prepared to report or stay over during adverse weather events. ## About Black Mountain Neuro - Medical Treatment Center Black Mountain Neuro - Medical Treatment Center is one of three state-operated facilities serving adults with chronic and complex medical conditions that co-exist with neurodevelopmental or neurocognitive disorders, often related to severe and persistent mental illness or intellectual disability. The facility maintains quality of life and dignity for residents whose level of medical and behavioral support extends beyond what can be provided in family or community settings. Our mission centers on individualized, compassionate care delivered by highly skilled staff. ## Qualifications and Experience You'll need a high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and three years of progressive experience in grounds upkeep. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. The state values candidates who possess demonstrated experience with fertilization methods and trimming trees and shrubs, as well as those with experience training others on the safe and proper use and maintenance of grounds equipment. Three years of demonstrated experience supervising others—including distributing and managing work assignments, hiring new staff, and managing staff performance—is also preferred. Experience with the cleaning and repair of on-campus streets and parking lots, along with inventory control of equipment and supplies, is highly valued. ## Compensation and Benefits The recruitment range for this position is $32,639.00 to $57,117.00 annually. Hiring salary will be based on relevant qualifications, internal equity, and budgetary considerations. The state of North Carolina offers excellent comprehensive benefits to employees.
