<strong>Job Description<br><br></strong><strong>Head Coach<br><br></strong><strong>Conway Public School District<br><br></strong><strong>Qualifications<br><br></strong><ul><li>Licensure</li><ul><li>Standard teaching license in the appropriate area, grade, or content area</li><li>Accepted into an Alternative Licensure Program through DESE</li></ul><li>Coaching endorsement</li><li>Completion of all Arkansas Activities Association coaching requirements<br></li></ul><strong>Reports To<br><br></strong>Athletic director and building principal<br><br><strong>Supervises<br><br></strong>All assistant coaches and team<br><br><strong>Terms Of Employment<br><br></strong>The contract days will be dependent upon the sports being coached. Salary will be based on the salary schedule A&J as well as the athletic index. Must obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL).<br><br><strong>Evaluation<br><br></strong>Based on local district policy and Arkansas Department of Education guidelines, and performed by the athletic director.<br><br><strong>Job Goal<br><br></strong>The Head Coach will oversee the successful implementation of the philosophy, schemes, and goals for the applicable sport. As the leader and face of their program for the Conway Public School District, the Head Coach will maintain credibility and work hard to create a positive environment that fosters support between the Head Coach and all applicable sport assistant coaches.<br><br><strong>Performance Responsibilities<br><br></strong><ul><li>Follows and maintains knowledge of all District policies and procedures.</li><li>Assumes responsibility for the total program under their charge as well as for the conduct and performance of coaches and players at all grade levels.</li><li>Coordinates, supervises, and directs all assistant coaches in the proper implementation of their program.</li><li>Delegates authority with responsibility while remaining accountable for such delegation.</li><li>Provides input and assistance to the athletic director and building principal for the purpose of hiring and evaluating the performance of the assistant coaches.</li><li>Fosters loyalty within the coaching staff and strives to professionally grow the coaching staff.</li><li>Supports the total athletic program by cooperating with and supporting other programs, encouraging their athletes to participate in other sports.</li><li>Cooperates in sharing facilities with other sports.</li><li>Cooperates with Junior High and Middle School coaches, administration, and athletes in developing their overall program.</li><li>Maintains good public relations through news media, available social media, and public speaking engagements.</li><li>Reports game scores, statistics, and other required or pertinent information immediately following games.</li><li>Follows and maintains knowledge of Arkansas Activities Association and conference rules, policies, and regulations.</li><li>Attends coaches' meetings called by the athletic director and building principal.</li><li>Manages time well and does not allow coaching duties to interfere with any classroom responsibilities.</li><li>Keeps abreast of their sport by attending clinics, camps, and other opportunities for growth in their sport.</li><li>Sees that school facilities, equipment, and clothes are properly maintained.</li><li>Provides quality supervision for student athletes from the time they report until the conclusion of any team activities, including camps and fundraisers.</li><li>Sets a positive example for student athletes by demonstrating poise and appropriate conduct at contests towards players, officials, fans, and other game officials.</li><li>Holds preseason meetings with parents and athletes to discuss regulations, program expectations, and responsibilities required within the program.</li><li>Makes themselves available to counsel, encourage and guide all participants in decision-making, whether in college choices, vocations, or possible daily problems.</li><li>Plans, organizes, and effectively implements the teaching of fundamental skills, game strategies, rules, and regulations.</li><li>Works to see that team performance is consistent with the quality of athletes available.</li><li>Creates interest within the student body to maintain the participation level at or near maximum levels.</li><li>Instills a desire in athletes for team as well as individual growth.</li><li>Provides athletes with proper and safe weight room training.</li><li>Submits all Arkansas Activities Association and school-required information in a timely manner, i.e. eligibility, etc.</li><li>Maintains appropriate records for team, individuals, and awards required by the athletic director.</li><li>Follows proper procedure in fundraising as well as ordering, care, storage, and maintenance of equipment.</li><li>Ensures that all athletes have physicals, consent paperwork, and required Arkansas Activities Association paperwork on file in order to legally participate.</li><li>Follows athletic office procedures in filing athletic insurance claim forms.</li><li>Oversees Supplemental Instruction Program participation; monitors and helps athletes in pursuing high academic standards.</li><li>Other duties, as assigned.<br><br></li></ul>This job description is in no way an exhaustive or all-inclusive list of responsibilities, skills, duties, requirements, efforts, functions, or working conditions associated with the job.
