Heating Manager

About The Role
Job Purpose:
Overall management of heating maintenance contracts. Management of all engineers and administration staff working on such contracts, carries out costing of works and management of works, processing of Certification, schedule of rates, and liaison with all clients under this department. Reporting to the Operations Manager . Ultimately overall accountability for the delivery of assigned contracts.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Controlling and planning/forecasting all regular annual planned Service, reactive maintenance and install works.
  • To deliver a high-quality service to the client and their customers, through strict management and enforcement of company processes.
  • Manages staff and systems, analysing operating practices, implementing changes to workload and materials delivery schedules to site/van stocks and POD processes.
  • Develops administrative staff by providing information, educational opportunities, and experiential growth opportunities, including development of trade staff by the same opportunities.
  • Resolves technical problems by coordinating preparation of reports and communication with staff, analysing data, and identifying solutions, and then costing for variations.
  • Manage contractual compliance day to day for service of heating systems and repairs across Gas, Oil, Solid Fuel and Renewable heating systems.
  • Management of BER and planned heating replacement programmes in accordance with the timelines set out in the relevant Contract Strategy documents.
  • Provides information by answering questions and requests to clients, quickly and efficiently.
  • Maintains supplies of materials and organisation of logistics by close liaison with procurement, stores and staff on site.
  • Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning administrative staff; expediting work results through management of team leaders and contract leads.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Maintains weekly operational and financial reporting on progress and completions, assisting in preparation of valuations alongside commercial team.
  • Responsible for all staff in the department, disciplinary procedures, and tool box talks.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Liaison with accounts staff with regard to P&L, cost cutting and efficient operation of their department.
  • Management of all heating maintenance and install works on allocated contracts as per operations manuals and operating protocols.
  • Management of the relevant Supervisors and Admin Team Leads under the Contracts.
  • Close liaison with the Electrical Manager and associated teams to support all contract delivery.
 
Skills/Qualifications:
  • Project Management, budget control, spend control and authorisation, ordering, training, technical auditing experience, C&G, NVQ in relevant trades, Word and Excel experience, surveying and cost analysis experience.
  • Experience of working on large scale maintenance programs particularly within social housing sector, planning & managing large volumes of visits, including experience of budgeting and Health and Safety Management.
  • Industry relevant gas and renewables qualifications/experience.
