Role Description
The Sickle Cell Community Specialist (SCCS) role is to support community-based organizations (CBOs) and connect them to resources that may be limited as patient-run organizations. The SCCS serves as the primary point of contact for patients, caregivers, executive directors, and other staff members of advocacy chapters for the purpose of education, resources, hub information, sponsorship, and support.
- Customer Engagement, CBO Account Management, and working cross-functionally to meet the needs of the Sickle Cell community.
- Identify gaps and challenges faced by CBOs and convene internal teams to support solutions for people living with SCD.
- Develop partnerships with key leaders in the Sickle Cell community to support advocacy efforts.
- Understand local, regional, and national healthcare issues related to Sickle Cell Disease.
- Elevate the work of National/Regional CBOs and share insights with the broader community.
- Deliver patient support resources and programs at Pfizer-sponsored events.
- Identify opportunities for education on SCD treatment and therapy optimization.
- Manage budget to align commitments with Pfizer goals and maximize collaborations.
- Collaborate with RD Managers to ensure integrated patient offerings align with objectives.
- Conduct needs assessments with CBOs to determine alignment with Pfizer business goals.
- Maintain administrative responsibilities including expense reports and budget tracking.
- Stay informed on the government landscape within Rare Disease communities.
Qualifications
- B.S. or B.A. Degree is required.
- Minimum 5-7 years pharmaceutical industry or related experience - preferably in Rare Disease.
- Exceptional communication, listening, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work in a highly regulated environment and adhere to compliance guidelines.
- Proven track record of collaborating with a diverse range of customers and stakeholders.
- Valid US driver’s license and driving record in compliance with company standards.
