Indirect Tax Client Activation Specialist

About the position

TaxConnex is looking for a detail -oriented Client Activation Specialist (CAS) to join our high -performing Operations Services team. In this full -time role, you’ll play a critical part in helping new clients launch successful indirect tax compliance programs, working closely with internal teams and client contacts to support onboarding, data transformation, registration, and the return filing process. As a CAS, you’ll be essential to ensure our clients stay compliant with Sales & Use Tax obligations across jurisdictions. You’ll provide hands -on support throughout the onboarding and compliance cycles—gathering and validating client data, preparing and submitting returns, and maintaining exceptional attention to detail and customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Client Activation Managers to facilitate client onboarding, including sales tax registrations, system configuration, and obtaining e -file credentials.
  • Assist in the setting up of clients’ tax calendar and ensure timely delivery of all required information and documentation.
  • Translate and import client sales and use tax data into tax compliance software.
  • Prepare and submit accurate, on -time tax returns according to each client’s tax calendar.
  • Process monthly billing activities and manage payments, including handling of cash requests, debits, credits, and jurisdictional check payments.
  • Support compliance efforts by identifying and resolving data inconsistencies and ensuring tax setup aligns with state and local requirements.
  • Contribute to internal data audits and assist with special projects to improve service quality and data accuracy.
  • Stay current on best practices in compliance tools and processes and support ongoing process improvements.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of experience in indirect tax (Sales & Use, Communications Tax), preferably with exposure to tax jurisdictions and return filing.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field—or equivalent experience.
  • Familiarity with tax compliance software and solid skills in MS Excel.
  • Strong analytical abilities—you can troubleshoot, validate, and make sense of transactional data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, you’re comfortable working across departments and with external clients.
  • Organized, detail -driven, and deadline -oriented—you thrive in a fast -paced, team environment.
