Junior Doctor - Medical Transcribing role
This is a fantastic opportunity for any junior doctor (between F1 and Registrar (ST6) level) to work from home ONLY in the UK - whilst aiding patients, hospital staff and police officers.
SFR Medical produces medical reports detailing the injuries sustained and the treatment received for victims of violent crimes, on behalf of UK police forces.
As a Medical Transcriber for SFR Medical, you will write medical reports detailing the injuries and treatment as documented in the patient's medical records. You will receive electronic medical notes and a valid consent form on our software platform. You'll then transcribe the medical notes into a medical report (type the plain English version of the medical notes into a templated form).
Medical Transcribers are paid according to the volume of work completed. The time fulfilling this role ranges from 6 – 30 hours a week between individuals and is dependent on the speed of writing the medical reports. No Medical Transcriber is given more than three medical report requests at any one time (unless they request for more and that request is approved). The turnaround time limit for each medical report is three working days (so excludes weekends and bank holidays). The turnaround time for completing the request starts when the request for the medical report is sent to a Medical Transcriber and ends when it is sent to the police officer.
Working as a Medical Transcriber can be done alongside your clinical work, research work or as a full-time role. Training packs and videos are provided for every Medical Transcriber. All completed work is reviewed by an Report Manager before being sent to a police officer. Medical Transcribers will always have a member of the operations team to contact should they have any questions about the process or a specific medical report.
To qualify for this role, you must have a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree (BMBS or equivalent), have been living in the UK for the preceding three years (so that you are eligible for NPPV2 vetting), be currently based in the UK and be registered with the GMC. Prior to starting as a Medical Transcriber, you will need to undergo successful NPPV2 vetting (required for non-police personnel), which SFR Medical will organise. The vetting takes around six months, however, you will be able to start work as long as the vetting application is submitted. Additionally, all data handled as part of the Medical Transcriber role is to be processed with the strictest confidentiality. There is a £10 administration fee required to be paid to SFR Medical before training is initiated.
SFR Medical is very proud of its diversity, believes in equal opportunities and welcomes applications irrespective of age, disability, ethnic origin, gender, sexuality or religious belief.
