The Global Services Group (GSG) provides American Express' renowned brand of customer service to consumers, merchants, and corporations. The LFO Manager role, a role within the Global Servicing Group Finance Organization will provide comprehensive financial support within GSG, with a focus on decision support analytics. The primary focus of this role will be supporting financial and operational strategic decisions for the GSG’s Credit & Collections organizations, which are responsible for the full range of early and late stage collection efforts. The Finance Manager should be a dynamic individual who can communicate effectively with business and finance partners, support key financial processes, deliver superior analytics, and manage complex tasks in a global organization. Responsibilities

  • Develop an end to end understanding of the Credit and Collections lifecycle, including operational and expense drivers across the value chain.
  • Work with the Collections business to optimize Outside Agency fees – focused on optimizing overall fee rate and further educating placement strategy by incorporating detailed cost information.
  • Analyze placement outcomes as it relates to OA Fees; enable insourcing vs 3rd party optimization decisions and better understand impact on opex targets.
  • Collaborate with Risk Finance on monthly results, planning, forecasting, and support identifying and syndicating key messages for Collections & OA fees.
  • Provide value-add decision support to business partners with a pro-active approach
  • Effectively collaborate across the organization to address key business issues, as well as ongoing business transformation, and cost reduction opportunities
  • Lead planning, forecasting, results analysis and reporting with a focus on tight management of risks and opportunities to enable delivery against aggressive targets
  • Track and analyze key issues and trends while liaising with business partners to develop in-depth analysis on operational and financial results
  • Perform ad hoc analytics as required, leveraging Finance and GSG analytical data in Cornerstone
  • Prepare and present insightful analysis and key recommendations to Finance and GSG Senior Leadership to drive decision making
  • Create and implement new complex and dynamic financial models to enhance reporting, enable analysis, and drive automation
  • Provide thought leadership, project management and specialized financial analysis for servicing initiatives in support of GSG strategies

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of relevant analytical and financial work experience
  • A curious self-starter with the ability to drive results, work with ambiguity, and create insights to explain results variances
  • Strategic thinking - an ability to deep dive into numbers and synthesize complex data while pulling together the bigger picture and key story for an executive/senior audience
  • Ability to grasp and explain complex concepts quickly; strong business acumen, able to follow business and industry trends and make use of this in the main AXP business lines
  • Strong collaboration and relationship building ability. Able to influence others without having direct authority, including demonstrated ability to influence senior management across the company
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deliverables while meeting tight deadlines
  • Robust communication skills, written and verbal
  • Strong work ethic with an intense will-to-win and demonstrated personal excellence
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint required
  • BS degree in Finance or similar; MBA a plus

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with Gen AI tools, Lumi, Tableau, Power BI, Essbase, Oracle ledger and P&L reporting, TM1 tools and SQL coding skills preferred
