Manager, Social Media and Audience Engagement

Department Overview:

Part of the Walt Disney Company's Media & Entertainment Distribution (DMED) segment, Disney Music Group (DMG) is the music hub for TWDC, encompassing all aspects of music commercialization and marketing: recorded music (Walt Disney Records and Hollywood Records), Disney Music Publishing, and Disney Concerts. DMG distributes music both physically and digitally, and also licenses music throughout the world in various forms of media including television, print, gaming, and consumer products.

Job Summary:

The Manager, Social Media + Audience Engagement is responsible for spearheading social media strategy and audience engagement for purposes of both, marketing and monetization. This role has oversight in launching campaigns for all of the Disney Music Group’s releases including the Hollywood Records label and its artists, as well as Soundtracks and Disney company projects. This manager will also lead a team who will execute day-to-day planning and campaigns on social media.

Responsibilities:

  • Point of contact for all social media platform partners that include but not limited to: Meta/Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, Twitter, etc – Optimize the relationship the chase down visibility and opportunities for projects.
  • Manage digital campaign strategy and brand building ideas to project lead, other stakeholders for new avenues of visibility and reach for artists and direct fan interaction, community engagement on social channels and brands tied to DMG.
  • Work XLOB on projects to support key ideas, moments, and strategy for support
  • Manage and optimize 3rd party agencies, vendors, and partners
  • Steer overall social content pack creation best practices inclusive of stickers, gifs, cut downs, video clips, social shareable, liners, and other necessary ancillary content
  • Drive for the continued development and growth of the monetization and commercialization of DMG content on social platforms.
  • Manage social creator/influencer strategy and campaign builds
  • Lead discovery in social media AR/VR technology
  • Analyze and assess performance across social media channels including performance over individual posts, platform trends, and broader campaign content Educate the broader DMG team on new features, offerings, and products across social media platforms
  • Manage brand safety across channels with help from monitoring agency
  • Create and track budget on social initiatives, licensing agreements, and outside agency costs.
  • Work closely with advertising leads to coordinate campaign based native posts
  • Lead a team of specialists, each handling day to day projects on the DMG roster
  • Provide creative direction to Digital Specialists for creation of assets and social campaigns
  • Oversee asset, legal, clearance requests across the DMG team and optimize processes as needed
  • Lead content capture as needed and liaise with creators/ for content

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in the music or entertainment industry, with specific experience in handling social media and/or digital marketing in current or prior roles
  • Experience overseeing and steering digital community management, and in launching brand-building campaigns
  • Proven success building and maintaining internal and external relationships
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills – diplomacy and interpersonal skills are a necessity
  • Track record of brainstorming, launching, and steering fun and creative content and campaigns for brands, artists, or creators
  • Experience managing vendors and team members
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Strength in multitasking is a must
  • Expertise in social media platforms and the types of assets used in organic and advertising campaigns

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
