Main Purpose of Job

This managerial/leadership position is responsible for and directs the statewide maternal and child health (MCH) program with a primary focus on improving systems of care for mothers and children. The position specifically oversees the Surveillance and Quality Improvement (SQI) program, including child fatality review and fetal and infant mortality review activities, through grant approval and monitoring statewide grants and personnel to ensure that funds and performance measures are achieved. Additionally, supervision of other staff positions requires supervisory expertise and a clinical background as a registered nurse.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Master’s degree in Nursing or a health-related field from an accredited college or university. Experience: Five years of experiences as a Registered Nurse including three years of experience in an administrative, supervisory, consultative or teaching capacity. Notes: 1. A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or health-related field from an accredited college or university and two years of experience as a Registered Nurse in an administrative, supervisory, consultative or teaching capacity may be substituted for the required education. 2. A PhD in Nursing from an accredited college or university may be substituted for two years of the required experience. 3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher as a commissioned officer in Nursing classification or Nursing specialty codes in the Nursing field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.�

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1.Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215.�� A copy of your current license or license verification must accompany your application. 2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
