This is a paraprofessional position responsible for assisting in all phases of program delivery. Under the direct supervision of a higher-ranking employee, with limited leeway for the exercise of independent judgment, works with a variety of entities, including but not limited to staff, community agencies, community members, organizations, unions and schools to perform tasks necessary to support community wellness efforts. Sets up and delivers presentations to a variety of entities, including but not limited to schools, community agencies and groups. Maintains contact and prepares written material for various program partners and participants. Attends community meetings and conducts outreach events as required. May supervise support activity volunteers and lower level clerical and outreach staff. Does related work as required. </undefined><br><undefined><br>TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: <br>Works with community agencies and organizations in the preparation of programs and meetings to increase community involvement in the department’s programs and services; <br>Assists in the preparation and dissemination of flyers and brochures; and, utilizes technology, such as social networking sites to promote department’s programs, services and events; </undefined><br><undefined>Assists in the development, planning and implementation of health related educational programs;<br>Promotes interest in program activities in the community; <br>Registers participants for programs and trainings;<br>Schedules and participates in meetings with staff and community agencies regarding the department’s programs and services and other topics as required; <br>Assists in the collection, analysis, and preparation of data, using appropriate software; prepares written reports;<br>Serves as liaison to community agencies, community members, and department staff on behalf of the department’s programs and services; <br>Provides technical support to conferences, forums, using computers, projectors, equipment, etc.; <br>Prepares routine correspondence; <br>Provides information over the phone, via email, the internet or in person, regarding agency and community programs;<br>Represents the Department as assigned;<br>Administers health screenings while at various locations when assigned;<br>Facilitates client referrals as needed.<br></undefined><undefined>A.) Possession of 60 college credit hours* and one (1) year of experience in preparing, distributing, and live presentation of outreach materials to the public; or: <br>B.) Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and three (3) years of experience in preparing, distributing, and live presentation of outreach materials to the public; or: <br>C.) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B).<br><br>SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: <br>Eligibility for New York State driver’s license required at time of application, with possession of the license mandatory at the time of appointment and maintenance throughout duration of appointment.
