Job Description Crum & Forster is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Paralegal to join our Surplus & Specialty Lines Legal Department. The ideal candidate will provide critical support to attorneys in bankruptcy matters, collections litigation, regulatory compliance, contract management, and other legal projects. This role requires strong research, organizational, and communication skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Experience and enthusiasm for using and embracing AI-powered legal tools is highly valued. The position may be remote; however, proximity to the Morristown office and the ability to be onsite twice a week would be a strong plus. What you will do for C&F: Bankruptcy • Monitor bankruptcy email inbox and review daily Chapter 11 filings. • Cross-reference filings with C&F insureds to identify relevant cases; research files and analyze issues. • Prepare and distribute notifications of bankruptcy filings to internal and external stakeholders. • Review and distribute legal mail as necessary. • Monitor ongoing bankruptcy cases and communicate updates to attorneys. • Assist in the preparation and filing of proofs of claim. Collections Litigation • Research policy documents and related information to assist attorneys with review and revision of pleadings and supporting affidavits. • Support attorneys in the review, revision, and preparation of settlement agreements. • Assist with responses to discovery requests, including internal research, document gathering, and communication with business partners. • Maintain discovery and litigation calendars, tracking deadlines and key dates. Regulatory Compliance & Projects • Analyze and update existing 50-state regulatory compliance reference charts (Excel/SharePoint), utilizing Westlaw and other online research tools. • Set up, populate, and verify new or restructured regulatory compliance charts. Contract Management, Review, & DocuSign • Prepare, send, track, and follow up on documents for signature via DocuSign. • Create and manage custom contract templates. • Preliminary review of certain third party contracts AI & Technology Integration • Leverage AI-powered tools and technology to enhance legal research, document review, and workflow efficiency. What you will bring to C&F: • Bachelor’s degree required, Paralegal certification preferred. • 3+ years of paralegal or legal assistant experience, ideally in litigation and transactional/regularly compliance (5+ preferred). • Insurance background and demonstrated experience supporting bankruptcy matters is a plus. • Proficiency with Westlaw, Excel, SharePoint, Word, and DocuSign. • Experience with, and enthusiasm for, using AI-powered legal research and productivity tools. • Strong research, analytical, and organizational skills. • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range.
