Process Engineer / Digital Transformation Specialist

Location: Robins Air Force Base (Warner Robins, GA) Illumination Works is looking for a proactive and forward-thinking Process Engineer with a strong background in manufacturing operations and digital transformation initiatives. This role is responsible for analyzing, designing, and implementing process improvements that integrate industry technologies, enhance production efficiency, and support data-driven decision-making. You will play a key role in bridging traditional process engineering with modern digital tools (e.g. IoT, data analytics, MES, automation platforms) to help transform and future-proof our manufacturing capabilities. The key responsibilities include: • Analyze current manufacturing processes and identify areas for improvement in quality, arenaflex, efficiency, and safety • Design and implement optimized workflows, standard operating procedures, and control plans • Lead continuous improvement projects using Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen methodologies • Support and lead digital transformation initiatives (e.g. MES implementation, IIoT sensors, predictive maintenance, smart dashboards) • Collaborate with IT and automation teams to integrate digital tools with production systems (PLC, SCADA, ERP, MES) • Use data analytics and visualization tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, Python, or Excel) to monitor KPIs and process performance in real time • Work closely with production, maintenance, quality, and IT teams to ensure smooth deployment of new processes and technologies • Ensure all process improvements comply with relevant regulatory, safety, quality, and security standards • Train staff on new digital systems and process changes • Maintain proper documentation for all processes, risk assessments, and digital systems Do you have what it takes? Key skills include: • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, industrial, or process engineering roles • Proven experience in process optimization and technology implementation • Demonstrated experience in digital manufacturing technologies or smart factory projects • Strong understanding of Industry 4.0 concepts (e.g. IoT, cloud systems, data analytics, cyber-physical systems) • Familiarity with manufacturing systems such as MES, SCADA, PLC, or ERP • Hands-on experience with data analysis tools (e.g. Power BI, Excel, Python, SQL) • Experience in digital transformation within manufacturing • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills • Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills • Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or Systems Engineering or comparable academic discipline • Certifications such as Lean Six Sigma are a plus • Must have or be willing to obtain Secret Clearance (this requires US citizenship) • Acceptable candidates must successfully pass a drug test and background screen About Illumination Works At Illumination Works, we know data, and we should, we’ve been doing it since we started in 2006!
