We currently have an exciting career opportunity for a Senior Associate to join the Real Estate Business Valuation team in our Valuation Advisory practice. CohnReznick is a hybrid firm and most of our professionals are located within a commutable distance to one of our offices. This position is considered hybrid which means team members are expected to be thoughtful and intentional in how they create opportunities for in-person collaboration. While the cadence of in-office presence is determined at the team level, our professionals are encouraged to be in the office/together in person on average 3 days a week. YOUR TEAM. This position will support our Valuation Advisory group. This group provides a wide suite of services to clients, giving you the opportunity to learn, grow, and build out your skills. Responsibilities • Prepare engagement letters • Prepare scope-specific document requests lists • Prepare and review valuation engagements, including valuations of complex equity interests and debt, for transactions, tax and regulatory compliance, strategic planning, and litigation purposes. The valuation engagements will primarily relate to: • Equity interests in real estate holding entities • Debt instruments held against real property • Private equity and alternative investments • Interests in businesses that primarily operate within the broader real estate industry (e.g., property management companies, development and contracting companies, etc.) • Develop and refine valuation models tailored to unique real estate structures, including joint ventures, complex debt and equity distribution priorities, and tax-incentivized real estate • Demonstrate general knowledge in business valuation analyses using DCF, publicly traded guideline company method, and comparative M&A transactions method • Perform market, industry, and economic research and analyses • Review and analyze client financial data, market data, industry data, economic data, and partnership documents (if applicable). • Write narrative valuation reports • Maintain active communication with supervisors throughout engagements ensuring timely delivery and quality control. • Help develop best practices across the team Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Real Estate, Business Administration, or related field. • ASA and/or CFA designation (or significant progress made towards the designation and expected to be obtained within 2 years) and/or CPA/ABV designation. • 2-3 years business valuation experience (transactional, tax, financial reporting) and accounting and advisory firm or independent valuation firm • Experience and interest valuing equity interests in real estate holding entities and businesses in the real estate industry. • Understanding of real estate capital markets, including debt and equity financing structures • Ability to work independently on multiple engagements simultaneously with competing priorities in a rapidly growing, fast-paced, interactive, results-based environment. • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills (MS Excel), and report writing skills (MS Word, MS PowerPoint). • Strong knowledge of corporate finance and financial accounting. • Experience working with Capital IQ and other industry data sources. • Proven ability to effectively interact directly with managers, partners, senior client personnel and key decision-makers. • Ability to recognize opportunities for other advisory and compliance services.
