Through our Independent Veterinary Operator (IVO) practices, the PetSmart Veterinary Services (PVS) franchise ownership model, to partnerships with Banfield Pet Hospital, in-store vaccine and wellness clinics, and Access to Veterinary Care (AVC) initiatives supported by PetSmart Charities, VHS brings innovative veterinary solutions together under one roof to support pets, pet parents, and the professionals who care for them.


About the Location

Field Position:

This position is considered Field based and is considered to be a blend of onsite and remote work activity. Field associates will spend their time both traveling to and spending time in various PetSmart locations and can expect to be asked to travel to Phoenix Home Office periodically throughout the year. Field associates typically work out of their home office when not traveling as outlined above.

About the Job The Principal Franchise Sales Manager is responsible for building and executing strategic recruitment efforts for veterinary ownership opportunities. This role is uniquely focused on identifying, sourcing, and recruiting veterinary doctors and educating them on our one-of-a kind franchise practice ownership model. The ideal candidate possesses a recruitment mindset, with strong skills in sourcing, prospecting, outreach, and continuous relationship management. Success in this role requires a balance of persistence, curiosity, and the ability to develop and execute strategies that keep prospects engaged throughout the recruitment process.

 

This role requires exceptional organizational skills and a results-oriented mindset, with the discipline to consistently use systems for tracking outreach, engagement, and long-term relationship management. The ideal candidate is motivated by building professional connections, understanding the nuances of the veterinary field, and collaborating as part of a dynamic team, while achieving individual performance targets.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify and pursue new franchise sales prospects- build the top of the funnel by analyzing trends, developing and implementing targeted, geographic and location specific recruitment (sourcing) plans.
  • Manage the entire franchise sales process, from beginning to end (including, qualification, site visits, validation, negotiation, signing and all steps in between).
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with franchisees and prospects, providing an exceptional experience and support throughout the recruitment process.
  • Monitor and analyze franchise lead performance data to identify areas for improvement and implement strategic solutions to optimize recruitment performance.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends, competitor activity, and market conditions to inform recruitment strategies and tactics.
  • Utilize CRM for all candidate sourcing, status tracking, and all steps in status throughout the franchise sales process.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the offering and the Federal Disclosure Document to answer questions and explain nuances to potential candidates
  • Track and provide weekly updates on progress and lead generation success
  • Implement and document process improvements.
  • Leverage industry contacts to secure DVMs for Veterinary Ownership Opportunities
  • Utilize online recruiting resources and job boards to develop new candidate flow.
  • Attend industry-related conferences
  • Collaborate with other departments within the organization, including marketing, legal, and operations, to ensure a seamless franchise recruitment process.
  • Support all Belonging, Diversity, and Inclusion strategies related to talent acquisition.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • 10+ years of recruiting experience in veterinarian or medical recruitment with proven results.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with franchisees, colleagues, and stakeholders
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to analyze data and make informed decisions
  • Knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements related to franchise sales
  • Highly motivated, inquisitive, and self-starter who can multi-task and effectively manage priorities to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven proficiency with a diverse sourcing toolkit, including job boards, search engines, niche sites, LinkedIn and other social media, passive lead generation, etc.
  • Travel up to +50%
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field preferred.

 TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Must be proficient in using the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge and proficiency with other business systems as required by specific roles (CRM).

  • Project Management is highly preferred.
