The Position:

NHS Orkney is looking for a flexible, enthusiastic Registered Midwife to join our Integrated Midwifery team, which was recently awarded the 'Midwife Award' at the Scottish Health Awards 2021.

The successful candidate will have a high level of autonomy across the whole range of Maternity care. This includes the Community settings, the midwife led unit which provides antenatal, intrapartum, postnatal and triage/day care. Our model also includes support from local Obstetricians and access to tertiary Obstetric care predominantly in Aberdeen.

The postholder will hold their own caseload, working alongside women, their families, and the multidisciplinary team in a continuity of carer model in line with the Best Start ambitions. There is a requirement to work flexibly covering day and night rotation over a seven-day week including on call and air ambulance transfer duties.

The Candidate:

It would be expected the successful candidate will possess will be a registered midwife with full UK NMC Registration. Candidates must also have completed the flying start programme and have experience of all aspects of midwifery care. There is the opportunity for this role to also be undertaken by a Band 5 Newly Qualified Midwife it would be expected that they possess NMC registration and they will be supported to undertake their flying start programme.

The successful candidate will work: Various Hours up to 16.65 hours available

It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with NHS Orkney.
