Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Remediation Manager supporting the North America Remediation team. This will be a Virtual office role where the incumbent lives preferably somewhere in the Midwest for project travel. Will also consider alignment to major U.S. Dow sites in the Midwest.

About you and this role

The Environmental Remediation team manages soil, sediment, and groundwater contamination. The team uses innovative approaches including nature-based solutions to prevent adverse effects to human health and the environment and to encourage the beneficial re-use of impacted land. The team is looking for a Remediation Manager who primarily supports remediation projects along with operations, maintenance and monitoring of existing remedies.

You will lead a portfolio of remediation opportunities to effectively manage historical groundwater and soil liabilities to meet regulatory and permit requirements. To do this, you will provide leadership to consulting project teams and partner with multiple stakeholders and functions within Dow. You will identify opportunities to redirect or enhance technical/management strategies for individual opportunities to accelerate advancement towards closure while also finding ways to reduce both annual and life-cycle costs.

To perform this role, in addition to an advanced background in remediation, an understanding of regulatory interpretation, advocacy with regulatory agency / Industry groups is required.

Responsibilities

  • Reduce liabilities, close sites, and participate as a peer in, and facilitate strategic reviews.
  • Manage budget & accruals for environmental liabilities.
  • Acts as lead for communication with regulatory agencies and participate in regulatory advocacy, maintaining good relations with relevant regulatory authorities. Participate in regulatory advocacy.
  • Provide informal guidance to junior staff.
  • Participate on internal Issues Management Teams.
  • Solve complex problems, take a new perspective on existing solutions and exercise judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information and communicate resolution with stakeholders.
  • Work with Mergers & Acquisitions on property acquisitions and divestitures.
  • Demonstrate passion, priority, and commitment to safety through personal behavior, and ensure EH&S programs are in place to achieve EH&S goals.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering, Geology, Environmental Management, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years’ experience in Remediation Management, Environmental Project Management or related relevant experience.
  • 7+ years of Project Management experience.
  • Must be fluent in English.
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in remediation, soil and groundwater technologies.
  • Prior experience with SAP and ENFOS.
