<p>Are you passionate about countryside management and ensuring public access to our beautiful rural environment? </p><p>West Berkshire Council is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Rights of Way Ranger to join our Countryside team. As a key member of the team, you will play a vital role in supporting the Rights of Way Officer in the management and conservation of our extensive network of rights of way, helping to maintain and enhance public access to the stunning countryside that West Berkshire has to offer. </p><p>The Role<br>As Rights Of Way Ranger, Your Responsibilities Will Include </p><ul><li>Working alongside the Rights of Way Officer to implement management plans for the maintenance and improvement of rights of way. </li><li>Conducting regular inspections of rights of way, identifying issues such as obstructions, surface deterioration, and signage needs. </li><li>Carrying out routine maintenance work, including clearing vegetation, repairing surfaces, and installing/removing signs and barriers. </li><li>Engaging with landowners, members of the public, and volunteer groups to promote and facilitate rights of way maintenance and improvement activities. </li><li>Assisting with the investigation of rights of way enquiries and providing advice to the public. </li><li>Supporting the Rights of Way Officer in responding to applications, orders, and appeals. </li><li>Contributing to awareness-raising activities and educational initiatives regarding the importance of rights of way and responsible countryside access. </li> </ul><p>The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes: </p><ul><li>A good understanding of rights of way legislation, management, and maintenance practices. </li><li>Practical experience in countryside management, ideally with a focus on rights of way. </li><li>Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a range of stakeholders. </li><li>Self-motivated and able to work independently, as well as part of a team. </li><li>Organised and able to prioritise tasks, ensuring timely completion of maintenance and improvement work. </li><li>A full driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes. </li><li>Experience in working with volunteers would be advantageous. </li> </ul><p>West Berkshire Council Offer Excellent Employment Benefits Such As </p><ul><li>Flexible working wherever possible between the hours of </li><li>Hybrid working wherever possible working 40% in the office </li><li>Access to a wide range of training and development opportunities </li><li>Generous Local Government pension scheme </li><li>Family friendly policies </li><li>A range of local discounts </li><li>Wellbeing Programme including Employee Assistance Programme and employee benefits </li><li>You will also be entitled to a generous annual leave entitlement starting at 28 days per annum (plus public holidays) Rising by an additional 5 days after 5 years\' service. </li> </ul><p>In addition to these benefits, you will be working in a supportive and collaborative environment, dedicated to making a positive impact on the local community. </p><p>Please note that the closing date is given as a guide.
