Shape the Future of Mobility at Nissan: Launch Your Career, Drive Innovation We are currently looking for a Senior Buyer, Glass and Wiping to join our team in at NTCNA in Farmington Hills, MI. Job Summary Acts as a work and thought leader, providing guidance and training to buyers and associate buyers within department. Oversees production purchasing' cost control and sourcing activities for new model vehicles at Smyrna and Canton plants. Assists production parts buyers with developing sourcing strategies, conducting major negotiations, and non-routine activities. Oversees assigned commodities and special projects. Contributes to building brand value and achieving enduring profitable growth.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as a work leader and thought leader, providing instruction and guidance to buyers and associate buyers.
  • Develops analytical techniques for buyer use in areas such as quote review, bundling analysis and sourcing recommendations.
  • Helps to resolve all serious issues and problems dealing with quality, cost, delivery and design issues involving multiple parties.
  • Provides buyer guidance in the preparation of all formal documents. This includes sourcing recommendations, cost adjustment recommendations, progress reports and any other reports and documents of a formal nature.
  • Assists buyers with complex and controversial price negotiations.
  • Provides sourcing of new model production parts and coordinates and reports on all aspects of the parts program with suppliers, production control and other departments.
  • Implements and monitors procedures to ensure compliance with approved sourcing plan and budget guidelines.
  • Performs daily administrative tasks by maintaining and updating various databases related to purchasing functions.
  • Oversees the daily activities of supplier purchasing issues for cost, quality development and delivery for Smyrna and Mexico plants.
  • Identifies and resolves supplier issues related to price, supply, quality and delivery.
  • Plans, develops, implements and maintains cost reduction plans in support of the department's cost reduction goals.
  • Implements the Nissan Revival Plan program with suppliers.
  • As necessary, performs other related duties of which the above is representative.

Requirements

  • Commodity and market knowledge.
  • Commercial and legal regulations knowledge.
  • Good oral and written communication skills; interpersonal; negotiation and cost and manufacturing process analysis skills.
  • Years of Experience: Minimum five years of related experience at a professional level.
  • Education Bachelor's degree from a four-year college.
  • Specific Course/Certifications Working knowledge of word processor, spreadsheet, other PC applications, or mainframe applications to produce non-standard, creative products.
  • Approximately 10% day and overnight travel.
