Position Overview

High Country Industrial is seeking a skilled and dependable Single Hand Welder to support our oilfield fabrication and rig work operations. This role is hands-on and field-based, requiring strong welding ability, adaptability in dynamic environments, and a commitment to quality and safety. While oilfield or drilling rig experience is a plus, high-level welding skill is the top priority.

Key Responsibilities

Field Welding & Fabrication

· Perform structural and pipe welding tasks on active or prepped drilling rigs and related oilfield equipment

· Work independently or in small crews on rig components, substructures, mud systems, pipe racks, etc.

· Ensure all welds meet quality and code standards (e.g., visual, bend, x-ray depending on job)

· Read and interpret prints, isometric drawings, and job instructions

· Accurately perform and communicate field measurements

Worksite Readiness & Safety

· Prep materials, tools, and equipment for each job

· Follow safety and job-specific protocols in sometimes hazardous environments

· Maintain clean, organized, and safe job sites and vehicles

Team Collaboration

· Communicate clearly with rig supervisors, project managers, and other trades

· Support HCI’s commitment to safety, quality, and professionalism

Preferred Background

· 1+ year of welding experience (field or shop), with ability to pass a weld test

· Prior work on drilling rigs or oilfield equipment is strongly preferred

· Familiarity with SMAW, FCAW, and MIG processes

· Able to work in outdoor environments, in heat, cold, and physically demanding conditions

· Must be able to lift 50–100 lbs, and stand/walk for extended periods

· Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Required Skills

· Proficient welding and fabrication ability (test required)

· Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders

· Strong communication, problem-solving, and basic math skills

· High school diploma or GED

· Pass routine drug testing
