Sr Corporate Counsel, Privacy & Regulatory

Overview Myriad Genetics is seeking a Senior Counsel, Privacy to support the company’s growing and evolving diagnostics business. This role will serve as a trusted, practical privacy advisor, with a primary focus on HIPAA and healthcare data privacy, while partnering closely with cross-functional teams to enable the business to move forward responsibly and efficiently. This is a hands-on, consultative role designed for an attorney who enjoys working closely with the business—helping teams understand privacy requirements, navigate risk, and reach compliant solutions that support innovation and growth. Responsibility • Provide day-to-day legal advice on HIPAA Privacy, Security, and Breach Notification Rules, including advice on Business Associate Agreements, Data Processing Agreements and other documents supporting business needs. • Advise on the use, disclosure, and protection of PHI across diagnostics, laboratory operations, and commercial activities • Advise on compliance with CCPA, GDPR, and emerging U.S. state privacy laws, including supporting projects and contracts involving consumer or non‑HIPAA‑regulated personal data • Support privacy incident and breach assessments, response, and remediation • Partner with Compliance, Information Security, IT, and Operations on HIPAA-related matters • Serve as a solution-oriented legal partner to product, commercial, R&D, and operational teams • Assist in managing matters as they arise in assigned business units, working closely with external counsel when necessary. • Collaborate with business units to identify and manage legal risks associated with day-to-day operations. • Translate privacy requirements into workable, business-aligned guidance • Support contracts, initiatives, and projects involving healthcare data and patient information • Educate internal stakeholders on HIPAA and healthcare privacy requirements in clear, accessible language • Develop or contribute to training materials, guidance documents, and FAQs • Demonstrate curiosity and willingness to learn about emerging privacy issues in diagnostics, digital health, and data-driven healthcare • Support legal leadership on privacy topics beyond HIPAA as the business evolves • Stay current on relevant regulatory developments impacting healthcare data • Participate in cross-functional teams and projects to provide legal insights and support. • Assist in overseeing regulatory compliance initiatives. • Monitor important developments in applicable law in jurisdictions across the country. Qualifications • Juris Doctor degree and bar admission in good standing required. • 5+ years of experience as a licensed attorney in a law firm or in-house legal position required. • Demonstrated experience advising on HIPAA and healthcare privacy matters required. • Working knowledge and exposure with CCPA, GDPR and state privacy laws required. • Strong background in corporate law or litigation, and legal research, with healthcare, life science, or similar industry experience preferred. • Effective communicator with the ability to discern and explain complex concepts to non-lawyers and business partners. • Proven ability to evaluate risk, considering business and practical considerations, and to make clear recommendations. • Strong time management and organizational skills; ability to multitask, prioritize and manage own workload and work well under pressure. • Understanding and adherence to legal ethics and ability to maintain confidentiality.
