We’re an <strong>award-winning public practice firm</strong> and we’re looking for a Staff Accountant who can step into files confidently and deliver great work during busy season and beyond. If you have <strong>hands-on Canadian tax prep experience (T1, T2, T3)</strong> and you like clean working papers, clear answers, and steady progress, you’ll fit right in.</p><p><br></p><p>What you’ll do</p><ul><li>Prepare Canadian tax returns, including:</li><li><strong>T1 personal returns</strong> (employment, self-employed)</li><li><strong>T2 corporate returns</strong> (owner-managed corporations)</li><li><strong>T3 trust returns</strong></li><li>Support <strong>compilation</strong> engagements: working papers, adjusting entries, reconciliations</li><li>Work with clients to request/clarify missing information and resolve issues efficiently</li><li>Keep files moving and documented using <strong>Karbon</strong> (task management/workflow)</li><li>Prepare clean, review-ready deliverables with strong documentation and CRA-ready support</li></ul><p>Must-have</p><ul><li><strong>Direct experience preparing Canadian tax returns: T1 + T2 + T3</strong></li><li>Public practice experience (or clearly equivalent)</li><li>Strong attention to detail, deadline discipline, and comfort working in a workflow-driven environment</li><li>Ability to produce clear working papers and supportable tax positions</li></ul><p>Nice-to-have</p><ul><li>Experience with <strong>DT Max</strong> (our core tax software)</li><li>Experience with compilation files / working paper standards (Caseware or similar)</li><li>Enrolled in (or planning to enroll in) the <strong>CPA program</strong></li><li>Exposure to GST/HST, payroll, and year-end clean-up</li></ul><p>Our tools</p><ul><li><strong>DT Max</strong> (tax)</li><li><strong>Karbon</strong> (workflow)</li><li>Modern cloud stack supporting efficient, documented delivery</li></ul><p>Why Padgett Halifax</p><ul><li>Award-winning team with strong standards and real mentorship</li><li>Variety of files (owner-managed businesses and professionals)</li><li>A practical environment where good work is noticed and growth is supported</li></ul><p><strong>To apply:</strong> Send your resume (and a quick note on your experience with <strong>T1/T2/T3</strong>) to info@padgetthalifax.ca</p>
