Student Assistant - Mobile Source Control Division - Hybrid

MSCD develops regulations, implements incentive programs, and conducts outreach all aimed at reducing pollution from mobile sources. These efforts equitably transform the transportation sector, improve the well-being and quality of life for all Californians, and spur and support competitive markets. With open minds, we use social, environmental, and economic justice as the guiding principles for our clean transportation policy. Two of the division’s major efforts are the Low Carbon Transportation Investments and the Air Quality Improvement Program, which provide mobile source incentives to reduce greenhouse gas, criteria pollutant, and toxic air contaminant emissions through the deployment of advanced technology and clean transportation in the light-duty and heavy-duty sectors. Low Carbon Transportation Investments are supported by Cap-and-Invest auction proceeds . The Air Quality Improvement Program (AQIP) was established by the California Alternative and Renewable Fuel, Vehicle Technology, Clean Air, and Carbon Reduction Act of 2007 (AB 118, Statutes of 2007, Chapter 750). Each year, the legislature appropriates funding to CARB for these incentives to reduce emissions and support advanced technology demonstrations and deployments. The AQIP Guidelines and annual Funding Plans guide CARB's implementation of these investments. Maintenance of the public-facing web content for these efforts is critical for providing up-to-date information to the public, stakeholders, and the legislature.
