<strong>Job Description<br><br></strong><strong>Organisation:</strong> Leicestershire County Council<br><br><strong>Work Location:</strong> Championship Way, Leicester Road, Glenfield, LE3 8RE<br><br><strong>Salary: </strong>£39,939 - £42,699 per annum (Pro rata for part time)<br><br><strong>Working Hours:</strong> 37 hours per week (Monday - Friday)<br><br><strong>Contract Type: </strong>Permanent<br><br><strong>Closing Date:</strong> 25th March 2026<br><br><strong>Interview Date(s):</strong> TBC<br><br><strong>About The Role<br><br></strong>Carry out structural and systems-based fire risk assessments in a range of different building types including schools, libraries and industrial properties. Technical fire risk assessment to include adequacy of AFD, structural compartmentation and adequacy of active and passive fire protection measures. Maintain accurate records and update systems/ databases.<br><br>To lead on technical fire safety matters in Project Design Teams within Operational Property Services. This includes providing technical guidance on Approved Document B and BB100 (school projects) in building design to meet statutory building regulations, the Regulatory Reform (fire safety) Order and LCC Policy requirements such as the Sprinkler policy.<br><br>To provide fire engineering guidance/ requirements to internal and external design practices on design issues such as compartmentation requirements and sizes as well as ensuring the safe specification of building materials and incorporating safety into installation.<br><br>Test, review, update and coordinate fire evacuation procedures at County Hall including liaison with all key stakeholders such as LCC departments, NHS staff and LFRS<br><br>For information on our approach to the recruitment of ex-offenders, please see our policy statement .<br><br><strong>About You<br><br></strong>To apply for this post, you must:<br><br><ul><li>Hold NEBOSH General Certificate</li><li>Demonstrate extensive experience of working in fire safety</li><li>Practical experience of fire engineering principles and project management</li><li>Proven track record of carrying out fire risk assessments in a range of property types</li><li>Extensive knowledge of the Regulatory Reform (fire safety) Order 2005, Building Regulations (Part B) and associated legislation and guidance documents such as BB100</li><li>A thorough knowledge of all Regulations, Legislation and British Standards relating to fire safety and health and safety.</li><li> Good interpersonal and verbal communication skills <br><br></li></ul>In addition, we also expect you to share our commitment to our values and to delivering accessible and inclusive services which meet the needs of all of our residents.
