TRANSFER LIST - Parking Enforcement Officer
<p>Patrols city streets and facilities in a vehicle or on foot, enforcing parking and non-moving vehicle regulations. Issues parking citations for violations observed. Responds to, investigates and documents reports of abandoned and/or hazardous vehicles. Provides special event parking support through traffic control, cash sales of parking spaces and parking facility supervision.</p><p><u><strong>Supervision Received </strong></u></p><p>Receives general supervision from the Parking Enforcement Supervisor.</p><p><u><strong>Essential Functions:</strong></u></p><ol><li>Patrols city streets and facilities in a vehicle or on foot, enforcing parking regulations applicable to non moving vehicles.<li>Issues parking citations for violations observed including overtime parking and illegal parking.<li>Assists the public by providing directions and responding to questions and inquiries.<li>Responds to reports of abandoned or potential hazardous vehicles; investigates and documents situation and impounds vehicles as necessary.<li>Immobilizes vehicles as allowed by Municipal Code.<li>Reports broken meters and signs, traffic accidents and other occurrences to the authorities.<li>Provides traffic control and off-street parking facility supervision and traffic control on public roads for special event operations. Reserves parking spaces as needed for permit sales and events by bagging or other method.<li>Provides parking enforcement for special events.<li>Receives cash and credit payments for event parking.<li>Maintains daily supplies for patrolling assigned area; operates and secures assigned vehicle and other assigned equipment; determines whether vehicle is in good working order; maintains vehicle in clean and fueled condition.<li>Prepares related daily and monthly reports.<li>Maintains a variety of automated and manual logs, records and files.<li>Testifies in court as needed.</ol><p><u><strong>Marginal Functions:</strong></u></p><ol><li>Assists with the collection of coins from parking meters as assigned; delivers coins to Treasury when route is completed.<li>May perform repairs on meters and signs as needed.<li>Performs related duties and responsibilities as required.</ol><p><u><strong>Experience:</strong></u></p><p>Two years of increasingly responsible work experience which required frequent difficult public contact in person, preferably in the parking industry.</p><p><u><strong>Training:</strong></u></p><p>Equivalent to graduation from high school.</p><p><u><strong>License or Certificate:</strong></u></p><p>Possession of a valid, appropriate driver's license on the date of application, and maintenance thereafter.</p><p>Within 15 days of initial hire, provide documentation of completion within the last five years of an OSHA-10 course in construction industry safety and health hazard recognition and prevention, developed by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration of the U.S. Department of Labor.
